About The Workshop
Unlock the craft of transforming text into performance with this hands-on workshop, inspired by British theatre director’s Katie Mitchell’s approach to script analysis. Designed for actors, directors, and designers, the session will focus on breaking down dramatic texts and translating them into bold, action-driven stage performances.
Over the course of the workshop, participants will learn:
Text Analysis: Identify key themes, conflicts, and character objectives.
Character Development: Use action-based techniques to create believable and dynamic performances.
Scene Breakdown: Use simple exercises to break down the locations, times, characters and other central elements of the script.
Directorial and Design Insights: Explore how directors and designers interpret scripts to shape staging and visual storytelling.
Scene Application: Apply your learning through practical exercises, bringing the script to life.
By the end of the workshop, participants will have a stronger grasp of script interpretation and gain practical skills to effectively stage compelling performances.
Note: This workshop is open to all kinds of storytellers, actors, directors, readers and anyone with a zeal for reading playscripts.
